Alvin D. Byler, of Grove City, MN, died on Monday, September 25, 2017, at the age of 87.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of Believers
Fellowship Mennonite Church in Grove City, MN, and was a faithful minister of the gospel for over fifty years.
In his lifetime Alvin was a farmer, carpenter, and a business man.
Alvin D. Byler was born on June 6, 1930, in
New Wilmington, PA, the son of the late Daniel H. and Lena J. (Byler) Byler. He was united in marriage to
Anna Mary Byler of Catlett, Virginia, on December 13, 1951.


This union was blessed with 13 children. Anna Mary passed away on September 17, 1991, after 39 years of
marriage. On January 9, 1993, Alvin married Fannie (Yoder) Miller of Grove City, MN, where they resided until
his death.

Alvin is survived by Fannie, his wife of 24 years; his children: Cora Coblentz (husband David) of Millersburg,
OH, Elsie Reese (husband Tom) of Warrenton, VA, Loretta Beachy (husband Simon) of Itasca, TX, Leroy

(wife Rhonda) of Remington, VA, Michael (wife Wendy) of Middleburg, PA, Barbara Kauffman (husband
Kenneth) of Huntsville, AR, Lydia Hornick (husband Oliver) of Hagerstown, MD, Stephen (wife Diane) of
Catlett, VA, William (wife Dorcas) of Brevard, NC, Larry (wife Kay) of Grantsville, MD, Twila Yoder (husband
John) of Belleville, PA, and Mary Lu Swartzentruber (husband Jerry) of Casanova, VA; 44 grandchildren; 31
great grandchildren. Step children: Marvin (wife Neva) of Grove City, MN, Lucille, of Grove City, MN, Freeman
(wife Aimee) of Levelland, TX, Frieda Chupp (husband Mark) of Eden Valley, MN, Dennis (wife Naomi) of
Curtis, WI, Daryl (wife Kay) of Paynesville, MN, Joseph (wife Regina) of Eden Valley, MN and Julia Yutzy
(husband Jason) of Grove City, MN; 38 step grandchildren; and 19 step great -grandchildren. He is also
survived by a sister, Ada Beachy, and many nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Lena Byler; Anna Mary--his first wife of 39 years, a son
Kenneth Allen; a grandchild Michael Irving Byler; a step grandchild Benjamin John Miller; brothers Harvey

and Henry, and sister Sylvia Beachy.

Alvin’s prayer was to cross the Jordan into Glory through peaceful shallow waters. However, the Lord in His
sovereignty took him through deep stormy waters to his eternal reward. Alvin was faithful to the end. Glory

be to God.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the building fund of Believers Fellowsh
